Chang Chun's trimethylolpropane (TMP) is a widely functional intermediate in the organic chemical industry. TMP can improve various resins’ toughness, corrosion-resistance, and sealing strength. It is very stable against oxidation, hydrolysis, and pyrolysis. It’s mainly used as the raw material for alkyd resin paint, polyurethane coating, and high-end oil coatings/paints. It can also be used for the production of plasticizers, surfactants, lubricants, synthetic leather, heat insulator, etc.

Used for alkyd resin production

It can replace glycerol or work in conjunction with polyols, such as neopentyl glycol and pentaerythritol, to produce alkyd resin.

Used for high-quality lubricant production

The lubricants produced with TMP offer advantages of low melting point, high viscosity, high ignition point, and good anti-oxidation property.

Used for plasticizer production

Ester compounds produced using TMP with non-acidic catalysts are excellent plasticizers.

Used for emulsifier production

The emulsifiers produced by TMP are used in cosmetic, textile and calico printing industries.

Used as fuel additives

After being esterified by oleic acid, TMP can react with polyformaldehyde to produce fuel additive.

Production of Trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA)

Raw material for production of trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA), which can then be used as reactive diluent for UV curable coating and printing ink.

Production of Trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TMPTM)

TMPTM produced from TMP can act as PVC emulsion additive, anaerobic adhesive, rubber crosslinking agent and printing ink curing agent.

Production of Trimethylolpropane triesters (TMPTE)

TMPTE produced from TMP can be used as reactive diluent for epoxy resin and as modifier for polyester and melamine resin.
